Cherry Blossoms Blooming Out of Season, Surprises Residents

Yoshino Cherry Blossoms at Fukui City’s Asuwa River

By the right bank of Asuwa River, located in 3-Chome within Central Fukui of Fukui Prefecture, cherry blossoms are blooming out of season. The blossoms’ light pink glows against the autumn’s blue sky.

On the Yoshino cherry trees, approximately 50 meters downstream of Saiwai Bridge, 10 flowers were in bloom. Just afternoon on November 5th, a city resident enjoying their afternoon walk found the blossoms in surprised, “I felt a somewhat mysterious sensation.”

According to the Fukui Prefectural Green Center, after factors such as strong winds caused the leaves to fall, it also resulted in large temperature differences, causing the flowers to bloom, mistaking the current season with spring.
