On January 22nd, Fukui Prefecture reported 4 new COVID-19 infections, bringing its cumulative total to 471 cases.

[1] Tsuruga City company employee (age & sex undisclosed)
On January 14th, as a close contact, the person had a biological sample taken, which had tested negative for COVID-19 through a PCR test. On the 21st, the person had a cough and runny nose, and had a biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. The person has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

[2] Sakai City unemployed female (90s)
On January 14th, as a close contact, the woman had a biological sample taken, which had tested negative for COVID-19 through a PCR test. On the 20th, as a close contact, another biological sample was taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test on the 21st. She is currently asymptomatic, and has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the past two weeks.

[3] Sakai City male nursing home employee (70s)
On January 13th, as a close contact, the man had a biological sample taken, which had tested negative for COVID-19 through a PCR test. On the 21st, he experienced coughing and fatigue, and had another biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during that two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

[4] Echizen City unemployed female (50s)
On January 14th, the woman had a cough and runny nose. On the 21st, the woman experienced a cough, runny nose, fatigue, and an impaired sense of taste; a biological sample was taken. On the 22nd, PCR test results showed positive for COVID-19. She has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

On January 6th, the man had a runny nose and sore throat. On the 9th, as a close contact of a COVID-19 patient from outside Fukui Prefecture, a biological sample was taken. On the 10th, PCR test results showed positive for COVID-19. He has been in Tsuruga City since January 4th.

[2] Oi Town unemployed male (60s)
On January 5th, the man experienced a fever of 38°C. On the 10th, he went to a medical institution for an examination, and to have a biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through an antigen test. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

On January 6th, as a close contact, the man had a biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. He is currently asymptomatic, and has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the recent two weeks.

[2] Fukui City male company employee (30s)
On January 1st, the man experienced a fever of 38°C, runny nose, and joint pain. On the 6th, he went to a medical institution for an examination, and to have a biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through an antigen test. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

On December 31st, Fukui Prefecture reported two new cases of COVID-19, both of men in their 30s from Tsuruga City, bringing its cumulative total to 355. Furthermore, one COVID-19 patient in his 80s has passed away.
Details of the two new COVID-19 cases are as follows:

On December 30th, as a close contact, a biological sample was taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. He is currently asymptomatic, and has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the recent two weeks.

[2] Tsuruga City male company employee (30s)
On December 30th, as a close contact, a biological sample was taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. He is currently asymptomatic, and has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the recent two weeks.

Both of the men were close contacts of a COVID-19 case reported on December 29th, of an Obama City male company employee (30s).

On December 24th, the man experienced coughing, stuffy nose, and an impaired sense of taste and smell. On the 29th, as a close contact, a biological sample was taken. On the 30th, PCR test results showed positive for COVID-19. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

On December 29th, the man experienced a stuffy nose and sore throat, and had a biological sample taken as a close contact. On the 30th, PCR test results showed positive for COVID-19. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.
