On April 9th, Fukui Prefecture reported 8 new COVID-19 infections, bringing its cumulative total to 647. As of this day, there are 73 active cases within the prefecture, of which 1 is in serious condition. Brief details of the 8 cases are as follow.
The Tsuruga City male company employee (20s, #2) and the Tsuruga City boy (Under 10, #3) are close contacts of the Tsuruga City female (20s) whose COVID-19 infection was reported on March 31st.
The Tsuruga City self-employed male (50s, #4) is a close contact of the Tsuruga City female (80s) whose COVID-19 infection was reported on April 8th.
The Echizen City unemployed female (80s, #6) and the Echizen City female association employee (50s, #7) are close contacts of the Echizen City unemployed male (80s, #5).
The Obama City female company employee (50s, #8) is a close contact of the Oi Town male bus driver (50s, #1).
On December 26th, Fukui Prefecture reported two new COVID-19 infections, of an Oi Town male company employee (20s) and a Tsuruga City male company employee (30s). Brief details of each case are as follows:
 Oi Town male company employee (20s) On December 25th, as a close contact, the man had a biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. He is currently asymptomatic. During December 21st through 24th, he had spent some time within Kyoto Prefecture.
 Tsuruga City male company employee (30s) On December 25th, the man administered a personal test kit that showed positive for COVID-19, which was later verified with a PCR test. He is currently asymptomatic, and has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the past two weeks.
Fukui Prefecture now has a cumulative total of 345 COVID-19 cases.
On December 25th, Fukui Prefecture reported four new cases of COVID-19, all of whom are contractors involved in construction work at the Oi Nuclear Power Plant (Oi Town, Fukui Prefecture), managed by the Kansai Electric Power Company (KEPCO).
The cases are of two men (one in his 30s and one in his 50s) from Takahama Town, one man (50s) from Oi Town, and one man (20s) from Obama City. All four are also close contacts and colleagues of the Tsuruga City man (20s) who was reported with COVID-19 on the 23rd. As close contacts, biological samples were taken on the 24th, which tested positive for the virus. According to KEPCO, in addition to performing regular inspections on Oi Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 and Unit 4, the men were working on construction of connected with safety and accident prevention.
The Takahama Town man (30s) has experienced light symptoms from December 18th, but has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms. The other three men are currently asymptomatic, with no history of travel outside the prefecture during the past two weeks.
Fukui Prefecture now has a cumulative total of 343 COVID-19 cases.
December 3rd Report, 150 People to Undergo PCR Tests,
On December 3rd, Fukui Prefecture and the Kansai Electric Power Company (KEPCO) reported that a male labourer (40s) from Kanagawa Prefecture was infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19); the man is an employed by a company involved in construction work at the Oi Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 (in Oi Town, Fukui Prefecture). The man has been in Fukui Prefecture since November 26th. On the 30th, after a positive COVID-19 test of a family member living within the same residence, the man quarantined himself in a dormitory within Obama City, as a close contact. On December 2nd, PCR test results showed positive for COVID-19. He is experiencing light symptoms, including a cough.
150 employees of the same company are undergoing PCR testing; 2 close contacts have currently tested negative.
