Fukui Prefecture, Heavy Rain Warning Across 12 Municipalities

Landslide Caution

At 10:55 a.m. on August 13th, the Fukui Local Meteorological Office announced a heavy rain warning & landslide caution across Fukui City, Sakai City, Eiheiji Town, Echizen Town, Sabae City, Ikeda Town, Tsuruga City, and Mihama Town.

The heavy rain warning in Awara City, and the heavy rain warning & landslide caution across Ono City, Katsuyama City, Echizen City, and Minamiechizen Town continue to remain active.

Going into August 14th, there is a forecast of a downpour of up to 40 millimeters within an hour, accompanied with lightning. Over a two-day period until the afternoon of the 14th, many areas within Fukui Prefecture could accumulate up to 200~300 millimeters of rainfall. The Fukui Local Meteorological Office is advised to exercise caution and remain alert for landslides, lower regions becoming submerged in water, rising water levels within rivers, and flooding.

The Ono City unemployed male (70s, #3) is a close contact of the Ono City male company employee (40s, #2).

The Echizen City male company employee (20s, #4) and the Echizen City female company employee (10s, #5) are close contacts of COVID-19 patient(s) outside Fukui Prefecture.

The Fukui City male nurse (30s, #9) is a close contact of a Fukui City male (30s) whose COVID-19 infection was reported on May 10th.

[1] Katsuyama City female company employee (30s)
On May 8th, the woman had a runny nose. On the 10th, test results showed positive for COVID-19. She is a close contact of a Katsuyama City girl (under 10) whose COVID-19 infection was reported on May 8th.

[2] Fukui City boy (under 10)
On May 7th, the boy had a cough. On the 11th, test results showed positive for COVID-19. He is a close contact of a Fukui City boy (under 10) whose COVID-19 infection was reported on May 2nd.

The Tsuruga City male company employee (20s, #3) and Tsuruga City unemployed female (20s) are close contacts of a COVID-19 patient from outside Fukui Prefecture.

Those within cases #6~9 are connected to a COVID-19 cluster at a school, which was reported on May 7th.
