Fukui Prefecture, 1 New COVID-19 Infection

On February 8th, Fukui Prefecture reported 1 new COVID-19 infection of a female part-time worker (30s) from Awara City. The woman had underwent a PCR test on January 25th as a close contact, but it showed negative for the virus. She was tested again on February 4th, after getting a cough with phlegm, but another PCR test result showed negative again. On the 7th, she had a runny nose and an impaired sense of smell, and then on the 8th, tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. She has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of sympoms.

Fukui Prefecture currently has a cumulative total of 522 COVID-19 cases. As of this day, there are 38 active cases, of which 4 are in serious condition.
