Fukui Prefecture, 7 New COVID-19 Infections

January 8th Report

On January 8th, Fukui Prefecture reported 7 new COVID-19 infections, all from Fukui City, bringing its cumulative total to 387 cases.
Brief details of each case are as follows:

[1] Fukui City unemployed female (20s)
On January 7th, as a close contact, the woman had a biological sample taken, which tested for COVID-19 through a PCR test. She is currently asymptomatic, and has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the past two weeks.

[2] Fukui City female home nursing support office worker (50s)
On January 6th, the woman experienced a fever of 37.7°C, chills, and fatigue. On the 7th, she went to a medical institution for an examination, and to have a biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. She has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

[3] Fukui City unemployed female (70s)
On January 5th, the woman had a cough. On the 7th, she experienced a fever of 39.4°C, and went to a medical institution for an examination, and to have a biological sample taken; PCR test results showed positive for COVID-19. She has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

[4] Fukui City unemployed male (10s)
On January 1st, as a close contact, the male had a biological sample taken, which tested negative for COVID-19 through a PCR test. On the 5th, he experienced a fever of 37.2°C, and coughing. On the 7th, he went to a medical institution to have a biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

[5] Fukui City independent businessman (40s)
On January 7th, as a close contact, the man had a biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. He is currently asymptomatic, and has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the past two weeks.

[6] Fukui City unemployed female (30s)
On January 6th, the woman experienced a fever of 37.8°C, sore throat, and headache. On the 7th, as a close contact, a biological sample was taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. She has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

[7] Fukui City unemployed male (10s)
On January 6th, the male experienced a fever of 37.2°C and coughing. On the 7th, as a close contact, a biological sample was taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

January 8th 10:00am Report, Fukui Local Meteorological Office

On January 8th, according to the Fukui Local Meteorological Office, during a 6-hour period until 9:00 a.m. of the same day in Ono City (Fukui Prefecture), 39 centimetres of snowfall was recorded. The Fukui Local Meteorological Office predicts strong winds to continue through the 9th, and advises caution when driving.

By 10:00 a.m. of this morning, snow accumulation measured at a depth of 90 centimetres in Ono City. In the Kuzuryu area of the city, 128 centimetres of snow was measured. Within Fukui Prefecture, heavy snowfall will continue intermittently through to the 9th, with a great amount of snow accumulating during those brief periods. Furthermore, until around the 10th, there is a heavy snowfall alert in various level ground and mountainous areas of the prefecture.

According to the Fukui Local Meteorological Office, by 10:00 a.m. of January 8th, the depth of accumulated snow measured are as follow:
Ono City – Kuzuryu: 128 cm
Ono City: 90 cm
Minamiechizen Town – Imajo: 57 cm
Fukui City: 33 cm
Tsuruga City: 9 cm

The amount of snowfall during the 12-hour period until 10:00 a.m. of January 8th are as follows:
Ono City: 45 cm
Ono City – Kuzuryu: 34 cm
Fukui City: 24 cm
Echizen City – Takefu: 23 cm
Tsuruga City: 5 cm
