Fukui Prefecture, 4 New COVID-19 Infections

January 7th Report

On January 7th, Fukui Prefecture reported 4 new COVID-19 infections, bringing its cumulative total to 380 cases. 3 of the 4 cases are close contacts of COVID-19 patients whose cases were reported on the 6th. Brief details of each case are as follows:

[1] Obama City independent businessman (50s)
On January 6th, as a close contact, the man had a biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. He is currently asymptomatic, and has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the recent two weeks.

[2] Fukui City male company employee (30s)
On January 1st, the man experienced a fever of 38°C, runny nose, and joint pain. On the 6th, he went to a medical institution for an examination, and to have a biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through an antigen test. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

[3] Tsuruga City female part-time employee (40s)
On January 4th, the woman experienced a headache, fatigue, and joint pain. On the 6th, as a close contact, a biological sample was taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. She has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

[4] Fukui City female instructor (20s)
On January 6th, as a close contact, the woman had a biological sample taken, which tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR test. She is currently asymptomatic, and has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the past two weeks.
