Fukui Prefecture, 4 New COVID-19 Infections

January 2nd Report, From Sabae City and Outside Prefectures

On January 2nd, Fukui Prefecture reported 4 new COVID-19 infections, of two men from Sabae City, and two men from outside the prefecture. Brief details of each case are as follows:

[1] Aichi Prefecture male student (20s)
On December 30th, coming home from outside the prefecture, a biological sample was taken. On January 1st, PCR test results showed positive for COVID-19. He is currently asymptomatic, and had been in Aichi Prefecture during the past two weeks.

[2] Sabae City male institution staff (30s)
On December 28th, the man had a sore throat. On the 31st, he experienced a fever of 39.2°C and coughing; he went to a medical institution for an examination, and to have a biological sample taken. On January 1st, PCR test results showed positive for COVID-19. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

[3] Sabae City male company employee (40s)
On December 30th, the man experienced a fever of 39°C. On the 31st, he went to a medical institution for an examination, and to have a biological sample taken. On January 1st, PCR test results showed positive for COVID-19. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.

[4] Hokkaido Prefecture male student (10s)
On January 1st, as a close contact of a COVID-19 patient outside Fukui Prefecture, a biological sample was taken. On the 2nd, PCR test results showed positive for COVID-19. He had been in Hokkaido Prefecture during the past two weeks.

Fukui Prefecture currently has a cumulative total of 359 COVID-19 cases.
