Gifu Prefecture, JR Staff Infected With COVID-19

November 28th & 29th JR Central Report

On November 29th, Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) reported that a male managerial employee (60s) working at JR Gero Station (Gero City, Gifu Prefecture) has been infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In accordance with instructions from the health care centre, JR Central expressed that is is continuously operating with infection countermeasures.

In addition to his managerial duties, the employee (60s) has also served passengers. According to JR Central, the employee had regularly wore a mask during working hours, and that there has been no close contact with passengers. On November 27th, the employee felt discomfort in his throat, followed by a fever on the 28th; an examination at a medical institution concluded with positive test results for COVID-19.

It was also reported that, on November 28th, a male managerial employee (50s) working at JR Takayama Station (Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture) had been infected with COVID-19. The company stated that there had been no close contact with passengers.
