Fukui Prefecture, Cumulative Total of 10 COVID-19 Related Deaths

Woman in Her 80s, Second Death Among Prefecture’s Second Wave

On September 20th, Fukui Prefecture reported the death of a woman in her 80s who was infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and had been placed in the intensive care unit (ICU). The last COVID-19 related death was on the 16th, making this case the second since enter July, in the midst of the prefecture’s second wave of COVID-19. Including among the first wave, there is a cumulative total of 10 COVID-19 related deaths within the prefecture.

Within the ICU, the woman had been receiving medical treatment while equipped with a ventilator. The woman had an underlying medical condition. Further information, including of the infection route, will remain undisclosed, as per the wishes of the woman’s bereaved family.

Up until July 12th, when new COVID-19 cases began emerging, into the prefecture’s second wave of COVID-19, there had been a cumulative total of 122 positive cases. On September 16th, a man in his 70s, whose COVID-19 case was connected to a karaoke lounge, had passed away.

Furthermore, on September 20th, the prefecture had reported no new COVID-19 infections for the 12th consecutive day, since the 9th. The number of people under hospitalization had decreased by three, to 12 patients currently receiving care in a hospital; among the 12, two are in critical condition. One close contact is currently under health observation.
