Fukui Prefecture, Two New COVID-19 Infections

September 3rd Report, Both Connected to a Karaoke Lounge

On September 3rd, Fukui Prefecture reported 2 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, bringing its cumulative total to 238 cases. In both cases, there is a connection with a karaoke lounge. Details are as follows:

[1] Unemployed female (asymptomatic, 70s, Sabae City)
The woman is a close contact of a person who had visited a karaoke lounge located within Echizen City and had been reported to be confirmed with COVID-19 on September 2nd. On the 2nd, as a close contact, she went to an Outpatient Facility for Japanese Returnees and Potential Contacts for a medical examination and to have a biological sample taken. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test results on the 3rd showed positive for COVID-19. She has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the recent two weeks.

[2] Unemployed male (70s, Minamiechizen Town)
On August 31st, the man experienced fatigue. On September 2nd, he went to an Outpatient Facility for Japanese Returnees and Potential Contacts for a medical examination and to have a biological sample taken. PCR test results on the 3rd showed positive for COVID-19. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the recent two weeks. He has been to a karaoke lounge located within Fukui City.
