September 2nd Report, None With Recent Travel History Outside the Prefecture
On September 2nd, Fukui Prefecture reported 4 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, bringing its cumulative total to 236 cases. In all four cases, there is some connection with a karaoke lounge. Details of each case are as follows:
[1] Unemployed male (70s, Echizen Town)
On August 23rd, the man experienced symptoms of fatigue. On September 1st, he went to a medical institution for an examination and to have a biological sample taken; test results revealed that he was positive for COVID-19. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the past two weeks. He has visited a karaoke lounge located within Sabae City.
[2] Unemployed male (80s, Echizen City)
On August 23rd, the man experienced a fever of 38.3⁰C. On September 1st, he went to an Outpatient Facility for Japanese Returnees and Potential Contacts for a medical examination and to have a biological sample taken. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test results on the 2nd showed positive for COVID-19. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms. He has visited a karaoke lounged located within Echizen Town.
[3] Unemployed female (80s, Echizen City)
On August 27th, the woman experienced a fever of 37.5⁰C. On September 1st, she went to an Outpatient Facility for Japanese Returnees and Potential Contacts for a medical examination and to have a biological sample taken. PCR test results on the 2nd showed positive for COVID-19. She has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the past two weeks. She is a close contact of a previously confirmed COVID-19 case of a Sabae City woman in her 70s, which was reported on August 31st.
[4] Unemployed male (asymptomatic, 70s, Sabae City)
On September 1st, the man went to an Outpatient Facility for Japanese Returnees and Potential Contacts for a medical examination and to have a biological sample taken. PCR test results on the 2nd showed positive for COVID-19. He has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the past two weeks. He is a close contact of a previously confirmed COVID-19 case of a Sabae City woman in her 70s, which was reported on August 31st.
