7 New COVID-19 Infections in Fukui City, No History of Travel Outside Prefecture

August 25th COVID-19 Report, Unable to Determine Point of Contact With Non-Fukui Prefecture Person

On August 25th, Fukui Prefecture reported 7 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, all from Fukui City. Brief details are as follows:

[1] Unemployed male in his 70s
[2] Unemployed female in her 70s
[3] Unemployed female in her 70s
[4] Male restaurant employee in his 40s
[5] Male company employee in his 40s
[6] Female company employee in her 50s (asymptomatic)
[7] Independent businessman in his 80s

The unemployed male [1] and female [2] are a married couple. The unemployed female [3] and female company employee [6] are mother and daughter, living in the same residence. The independent businessman [7] and and male restaurant employee [4] are father and son.

Among all 7 people, there has been no history of travel outside Fukui Prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms. A point of contact with someone from outside the prefecture is currently unable to be determined.

Due to the lack of travel history outside Fukui Prefecture, and the inability to determine a point of contact with an outside source, the prefecture advised its citizens, “Consider the virus to be nearby, and take precautionary measures.”
