Two New COVID-19 Cases in Their 70s, Both Spent Time Outside Fukui Prefecture

On August 23rd, Fukui Prefecture reported 2 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, of an unemployed male in his 70s from Sabae City, and a male company employee in his 70s from Fukui City. Both men has a history of travel outside the prefecture.

The Sabae City man experienced symptoms including coughing and a sore throat on August 17th, visited an Outpatient Facility for Japanese Returnees and Potential Contacts for a medical examination on the 22nd, and was confirmed positive for COVID-19 through a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on the 23rd. During the 13th, the man had spent time within Ishikawa Prefecture.

The Fukui City man experienced a fever of 37.3⁰C on August 14th, visited an Outpatient Facility for Japanese Returnees and Potential Contacts on the 22nd, and was confirmed with COVID-19 on the 23rd. On the 8th, the man had spent time within Ishikawa Prefecture.
