Fukui Prefecture, 4 New COVID-19 Cases and 11 Close Contacts

August 22nd Report, Relatives, Acquaintances, and Colleagues

On August 22nd, Fukui Prefecture reported four new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. Brief details are as follows:

[1] Female company employee in her 20s (Sakai City)
[2] Unemployed male in his 70s (Awara City)
[3] Male company employee in his 30s (Awara City)
[4] Female part-time employee in her 30s (Awara City)

The Sakai City female company employee [1] experienced coughing and a runny nose on August 19th, and then was tested for COVID-19, which showed positive on the 21st. The woman has no history of travel outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms. The woman has 3 close contacts, all whom are relatives from the same residence.

The other three ([2] – [4]), from Awara City, are all family members living within the same residence as the woman who was confirmed with COVID-19 on August 21st (Fukui Prefecture’s 157th case). The unemployed male [2] had spent time outside the prefecture during August 8th to 10th; 6 of the man’s acquaintances are close contacts. The male company employee [3] has no history of travel during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms; the man has 2 close contacts of colleagues from work. The female part-time employee [4] has no travel history outside the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms; the woman’s close contacts are currently being determined.
