Tsuruga City will be providing a grant of up to ¥400,000 to business owners who have experienced a decrease in sales, as an effect from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The grant is to provide financial support for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and individual owner-managers within Tsuruga City to maintain their businesses. The requirement for the grant is for the business to experience a decrease of at least 20% in sales during a three-month period within January to June of 2020, in relation to the sales number of 2019 of the same period; SMEs can receive a grant of ¥400,000, while individual owner-managers can receive ¥200,000.
The funds will come from Tsuruga City’s financial adjustment reserve, taking ¥1 billion from the city’s accumulated ¥3.2 billion. Applications will be accepted in May, after the long holiday, and the grant is expected to begin paying out during the same month, at the earliest.
