6th COVID-19 Related Death in Fukui Prefecture, of Fukui City Man

April 23rd Report, No New COVID-19 Cases

On April 23rd Fukui Prefecture reported that the prefecture’s 77th novel coronavirus (COVID-19) case, of a Fukui City unemployed male in his 60s, has passed away; this brings the prefecture’s total number of COVID-19 related deaths to six. The cause of death was pneumonia as a symptom of COVID-19, after the patient was confirmed with the virus on April 8th.

The patient’s pneumonia had been improving, but suddenly worsened from the morning of April 22nd; the patient then passed away at 5:10 p.m. of the same day. The patient had an underlying condition, and was receiving dialysis treatment at a urology clinic in Fukui City, where its clinical director and several patients have also been confirmed with COVID-19.

As of the afternoon of April 23rd, there have been no new COVID-19 case confirmations. From April 15th, there had been 8 consecutive days of COVID-19 case reporting.
