Novel Coronavirus: Eight Cases in Fukui City, One Case in Echizen City

During Two-Week Period Before Onset of Symptoms, Eight Had No History of Travel Outside the Prefecture

On April 2nd, within Fukui Prefecture, there were nine newly confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). As reported by Fukui Prefecture, the brief details of the nine cases, the 22nd to 30th within the prefecture, are as follows:

[#22] Fukui City male company employee, in his fifties

[#23] Fukui City male company executive, in his sixties

[#24] Fukui City independent businessman, in his sixties

[#25] Echizen City male company executive, in his fifties

[#26] Fukui City female restaurant employee & company employee, in her twenties

[#27] Fukui City female restaurant employee, in her fifties

[#28] Fukui City male company executive, in his fifties

[#29] Fukui City male company executive, in his seventies

[#30] Fukui City company executive, in his seventies

All the persons listed had visited the same restaurant, and had interactions with someone who was infected with the virus. The Fukui City company executive [#30] resides in an area close to the restaurant.

In addition, during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms, the Fukui City company executive [#28] had stayed in Osaka City, Kobe City, and Ishikawa Prefecture, as well as meeting with clients from Ishikawa Prefecture and Gifu Prefecture. As for the other newly confirmed cases, none had been outside of the prefecture during the two-week period prior to the onset of symptoms.
