Novel Coronavirus, 16th to 20th Cases within Fukui Prefecture

On March 31st, Fukui Prefecture reported the 16th to 20th confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), of five people across Fukui City, Sakai City, and Minamiechizen Town.

[16th] Fukui City woman in her 30s; restaurant employee and dental assistant

[17th] Fukui City man in his 20s; company employee

[18th] Sakai City man in his 60s; independent business owner

[19th] Minamiechizen Town woman in her 60s; unemployed

[20th] Fukui City man in his 40s; company employee

Those of the 16th, 17th, and 18th cases have had some contact with previously confirmed COVID-19 cases. Concerning the 19th case, during the two week period before the onset of symptoms, the woman had no history of travel outside the prefecture. For the 20th case, the man had stayed in Kyoto on March 11th and 12th.

Among Fifteen Infection Cases in Fukui Prefecture, Two in Serious Condition

March 30th, Novel Coronavirus

On March 30th, Fukui Prefecture reported a Fukui City male company executive (40s), and an Echizen City female company employee (30s) were infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Within the prefecture, this is the 14th and 15th case. Both people had close interactions with an Echizen City male company employee (50s), who had shown symptoms on March 22nd and was the prefecture’s 9th COVID-19 case. The symptoms were light. It has also been disclosed that three patients have been experiencing worsening symptoms, including the already confirmed cases of a Fukui City independent businessman (70s; 3rd case) and an Echizen City company executive (50s; 12th case), both having entered intensive care.

This has been the sixth consecutive day for infection case confirmation. The Fukui City male company executive (40s; 14th case) is an acquaintance of the Echizen City male company employee (9th case), and had rose int he male company employee’s car for 30 minutes on March 22nd. On the 27th, the male company executive (14th case) experienced fatigue, had a fever of 38.5⁰C on the 29th, and then tested positive for the virus on the 30th. On March 15th and 21st, before symptoms had arose, the man had been in Ishikawa Prefecture. He had been in close contact with three family members, living in the same home.

The Echizen City female employee (30s; 15th case) are coworkers with the Echizen City male employee (9th case). The woman experienced a fever of 37.5⁰C on March 27th, before testing positive for the virus on the 30th. She had been in close contact with six family members, living in the same home. Both persons of the 14th and 15th cases do not have any underlying conditions.

Fukui Prefecture also explained the conditions of three infected cases, whose symptoms have worsened. On March 30th, the Fukui City independent businessman (70s), who had an onset of symptoms on the 21st, had entered intensive care; he has been put on a ventilator. The man’s son (40s) has experienced a fever in the upper end of 38⁰C. In addition, on March 30th, the Echizen City male company executive (50s), who had an onset of symptoms on the 22nd, had also entered intensive care; he has not been put on a ventilator.

Among the confirmed cases within the prefecture, the Echizen City male company executive (9th case), and the Fukui City independent businessman (3rd case) are in serious condition.
