Deep in Autumn, A Sign of the Approaching Winter. The First Frost in Fukui.

A Faint White in the Undergrowth

On the morning of November 22nd, various lands within Fukui Prefecture had its heat taken away, through the process of radiative cooling. Reaching a cooler state, the first frost of the year was observed in Fukui City. The occurrence was 2 days earlier than the average year, and 18 days sooner than last year.

According to the Fukui Local Meteorological Office, the temperature lows were recorded at 2.8°C in Obama, and 3.7°C in Fukui; including Mihama and Tsuruga, these four areas have reached a record low for the current season.

On the morning of the 22nd, in Fukui City’s Kantobe-cho, several places were wrapped with the cool atmosphere, painting the undergrowth with a faint white colour. As the sun rises, the frost slowly disappears.
