Made by the Fukui Prefecture, A New Series on SNS
As a way to promote the charm of Fukui to those outside the prefecture, Fukui Prefecture’s public information department launched a new video series for social networking sites (SNS). The theme is “#1 in Japan: Fukui Prefecture”. The first segment introduces the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum. A manager enthusiastically said, “We are working in anticipation for the Hokuriku Shinkansen train line extending to Tsuruga in three and a half years. In order to attract more people into Fukui Prefecture, we want to broadcase about many of Fukui’s aspects that are the best in Japan.”
Video broadcasts towards the other prefectures began from July 2016. The prefecture’s public information department also broadcasts on their Facebook page and Youtube channel “Oideyo! Fukui!” (「おいでよ！ふくい！」; “Come to Fukui!”). Up to now, the series has reported on various tourist attractions and activities within Fukui Prefecture.
The first broadcast of the new series talked about the excavations of new dinosaur species in Fukui; of the 7 new species found in Japan, 5 were found within Fukui Prefecture, and so, “in the amount of new dinosaur discoveries, Fukui is #1 in Japan!” The broadcast also featured the exhibits within the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, and an activity area outside the museum, where people can try digging fossils.
We will continue to create straightforward videos with good tempo,” said a production staff.
From here on, one video per month is planned to be broadcast, featuring topics such as “#1 in Japan: Consumption of Abura-age” and “#1 in Japan: Eyeglass Frame Production.”
